What is SkinPen?

Micro-needling is a skin rejuvenation procedure that helps to improve your skin’s appearance by stimulating its natural ability to produce collagen and repair itself.

Who is a good candidate for SkinPen?

Most people are candidates for SkinPen. SkinPen doesn’t cause changes in pigmentation that may be seen with other energy devices, so it can be used on all skin types and tones, including darker skin that’s more susceptible to hyperpigmentation. SkinPen’s variable needle depth allows for ultimate versatility.

What is recovery like?

The total healing time depends on each individual. Most patients have some slight swelling and redness/pinkness (like a mild to moderate sunburn) for two to four days following the micro-needling procedure. Some people may heal completely in 24 hours.

Your clinician may apply Skinfuse RESCUE Calming Complex immediately post-procedure to soothe your skin and reduce inflammation. RESCUE was formulated by Bellus Medical as part of the Skinfuse post-procedure protocol specifically to calm the skin following the SkinPen micro-needling procedure. Most people can return to their normal activities and conceal any side effects with makeup just one day after their SkinPen procedure.

How long will results last?

The effects of a micro needling pen are not permanent, so clinicians recommend a maintenance program which could include quarterly procedures to keep skin looking it’s best. Each patient is unique, in terms of age, skin type, and the type and location of the skin condition to be treated. Personal consultation with a well-qualified provider is the only way to know if micro needling pen procedures are the best choice and to determine how many procedures will be needed to produce and retain optimal results.
